When Chan worked on Tesla’s Global Trade team, every car part—from bolts to battery packs—came from a different country. Each time tariffs shifted, thousands of parts across hundreds of pages of trade rules needed review, research, or reclassification. Pair that with tons of paperwork & meetings with consultants, brokers, & suppliers, and you’ll have one worst workflow of 2025. All happening within Outlook & Excel 2019.
They tried software, consultants, startups — every one of them got shut down due to reasons like product quality & data security.
That’s why we built MarkIt — AI agents that actually do the work for Suppliers, Brokers, and OEMs.
Introducing MarkIt

With agents that live where trade professionals already work — Excel, broker portals, and browser — MarkIt helps teams classify products, manage tariffs, and resolve customs issues in seconds, not hours.
MarkIt’s Value: Product & Logic Application
MarkIt is intentionally lightweight, and customizable. Previously, without AI, software in this industry was clunky & typically automating a set workflow. Now, MarkIt can support every trade compliance process, including ones companies have been ignoring.
MarkIt is like a coworker specialized in customs & the trade process. Who’s willing to do all of your mindless “dishwashing” work.
**Our Ask:**
We’re looking to connect with anyone who works in Global Trade. Suppliers, customs brokers, importers, e-commerce operators, etc. Anyone who may have to get a good across a border.

Chan and Roland met in 9th grade and have been close friends ever since, sharing a passion for technology and problem-solving. They were roommates in both college and internships.
The idea for MarkIt came from Chan’s experience at Tesla, where he worked on the global trade team from January to May during a period of rapidly changing tariffs. He saw firsthand how inefficient the whole process was: not just classification, but researching how BoMs are affected, justification for government fines, and remaining organized through thousands of documents.
