👋 Hi YC! We’re Nick Evans and Shayan Guha, co-founders of Avocado - a point-of-sale system for restaurants that now includes a fully integrated AI assistant. We’re thrilled to share our biggest update yet.

🧠 The problem: running a restaurant is overwhelming

Independent restaurant owners juggle dozens of tools, dozens of vendors, and constant interruptions - all while trying to serve food and keep customers happy. Managing the POS, updating menus, pulling sales reports, figuring out Instagram posts, dealing with changing prices… it’s a full-time job on top of their actual full-time job.

But the real bottleneck? Information is trapped in systems that don’t talk to each other, and most POS systems are clunky, hard to use, or just dumb.

Avocado is a POS system designed from the ground up to work with an AI assistant. Our agent understands your menu, your modifiers, your sales data, your customers, your staff - and it can take action across the system in real time.

👩‍🍳 Why we built Avocado

We’ve worked with restaurants for years and have seen the same story over and over: people want to focus on hospitality and food - not software. But they were stuck with outdated POS systems or janky integrations between too many tools.

So we built Avocado to be the last system a restaurant needs - tightly integrated hardware + software, a beautiful POS UI, and now, a deeply capable AI agent.
(Also, we were frustrated that nobody else had done it right. So we did.)
