Vesence: Cursor for Transactional Lawyers

TL;DR: We are building Cursor for Lawyers. We turn Microsoft Word into an IDE for contracts, and build agents operating in the background. Our initial focus is on Transactional Law Firms, and agents built for quality-assuring projects and documents according to the firm’s best practice.

We have already rolled out Vesence firm-wide at our first enterprise client with a lot of love from both associates and partners.

Problem:

Imagine programming in Apple Notes.

No linting, no cursor, you are on your own.

That is how it is for many lawyers to draft and review contracts in Microsoft Word.

At law firms, the stakes are extremely high. Every mistake can hurt your reputation badly. Associates need to deliver under time pressure, partners demand extreme attention to detail, and your clients will not accept any blunders.

Given the attention to detail needed in the work, working on complex projects under constant time pressure, we are starting with quality-assuring agents (i.e. a linting system for contracts).

The consequences of shipping "bugs" in a legal document can be catastrophic, but even the best firm still rely on manual review to catch mistakes.

What We’ve Built

Vesence offers quality assurance AI agents available straight in Microsoft Word to handle tasks such as:

• Apply firm-wide Standards: Apply writing style guides and best practices consistently across all practice groups in the firm
• Ensure project-level alignment: Flag inconsistencies across multiple deal documents, for example auto-checking the SPA against the original term sheet
• Verify document consistency: Catch defined term slips, bad cross-references, logical gaps, and miscalculations within a single document

Who We Are

The founders Henrik Hansson and Ludvig Swanström have known each other for 8 years, and worked together at the YC startup Depict S20 (founded by the CEO and Founder of Lovable).

To build Vesence, we spent a couple of months living at a law firm, to refine the product and user experience alongside lawyers.

We have already rolled out the product firm-wide at a law firm.
