What is this role?

This role is for a fullstack engineer (backend focussed) who has worked on production-grade apps. You will find this role amazing IF - you have worked with python && pro in NodeJS && done solid work in Gen AI (beyond prompts and basic agents)

What you will work on?

You will be joining us in this 1-100 journey, building the best AI tutor platform out of India (likes of Duolingo). So there is tons of UX, AI, personalisation, gamification, complex problems, and new ideas to work upon that comes along.

Requirements:

• 1+ yrs experience in building scalable backend using Python / NodeJS

  (and atleast ~1 yr in NodeJS. Typescript is our primary stack)

• Loves writing quality code and is obsessed with performance (optimised queries?)

• Software engineering skills -

  • Relational DBs - PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • Worked on Elastic search, queues, caching
  • Rate limiting, Scaling
  • DevOps - worked on or familiar with AWS/Azure/GCP
  • Basics of security

• Generative AI skills -

  • Comfortable working on vector databases and quality output with RAG (say rerankers, sparse/dense search)
  • Loves writing scripts, and have worked on Dataset generation (labelled / unlabelled)
  • Model training, RLHF, RLAIF
  • Preferred - worked on Agentic workflows, Speech models
  • Preferred - understands basic ML

• Bonus - Basic understanding of frontend - ReactJS, or can build on lovable or cursor.

Responsibilities:

• Lead various backend initiatives end to end - building features, performance, database, general devops, etc.
• Building agents, managing vector databases, model training or AI pipelines.
• Lots of datasets - tagging, data manipulation, etc. Python ease the day here.
• Keep yourself updated with evolving technology - training techniques models, tooling, etc.

Compensation:

Experience wise: 16 to 22LPA. Plus esops for the right candidate.

Your resume will be short listed as per your skills set and experience. After this, an introductory call will be set.

Introductory call (15 min) - Discussion on your work in detail. You may ask relevant questions. Depending upon the depth of skillset, the next steps will be discussed.

Round 1: Assignment, 2 days - This is to evaluate your scientific approach to the problem statement and solutioning. We will have 20min discussion on feedback - Skipped if your previous experience is substantial. Alternative F2F round will be scheduled.

Round 2, F2F, 1hr - This round is for fundamental programming and LLD system design.
Round 3, F2F, 1hr - This round will have ML design and architecture problem statements.

Round 4, F2F, 20-40min - Final discussion round
