Video AI to automatically detect and respond to production line…
This job is a mainly on-the-road position, so it is open to anybody in the USA regardless of their home state. Preference for applicants that live near major airport hubs on the East / West coast, and equipped with own car.
At Cerrion, we’re building the future of AI-enabled manufacturing. Backed by Y Combinator and top Silicon Valley investors, we deploy video AI Agents that see what’s happening on production floors, spot problems automatically, and intervene in real time to keep production running smoothly—at global scale. Our technology is live in factories across 15+ countries, helping leading manufacturers in glass, beverage, food, CPG, building materials, and wood cut downtime by up to 50%. We’re at an inflection point and scaling fast.
We’re hiring a Field Installation Engineer to own the end-to-end deployment of Cerrion systems in customer factories across the USA (and occasionally beyond). This role is for a hands-on, licensed electrician with strong industrial networking instincts and a bias for getting complex installations done right the first time. You will remotely survey sites with customers, plan installations, execute on-site deployments, coordinate with client IT and production teams, and drive customer acceptance until the system is fully installed and switched on. Once a site is live, you move to the next project—no long-tail support ownership.
This is a high-autonomy, travel-heavy role at the front lines of scaling a real-world AI platform in some of the most advanced manufacturing environments in the world.
Own deployments end-to-end: Run the full lifecycle for each factory — from remote site survey and install planning with the customer, through on-site installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance — until the Cerrion system is fully installed and switched on.
Plan like an engineer, execute like a builder: Define camera layouts, cabling routes, cabinet work, networking needs, access windows, and required hardware during remote surveys, then deliver the plan on site with high quality and speed.
Install in real industrial environments: Perform hands-on electrical and mechanical installation work independently in energized factory settings (cabinets, cable runs, mounting, terminations), safely and to standard.
Deploy and integrate the Cerrion stack: Set up Cerrion servers, switches, and Axis IP camera networks (4–80 cameras/plant), run/terminate Ethernet, align cameras, and validate system readiness; coordinate with customer IT for VLAN/firewall/IP integration, and install SIM router/Starlink when needed.
Interface with machines and plant teams: Connect or coordinate PLC/machine interfacing work and collaborate daily with production, maintenance, automation, and IT teams to get the system live within tight production constraints.
Solve problems on the spot: Handle the inevitable on-site surprises — missing equipment, unexpected layouts, network quirks, safety constraints — by finding practical solutions fast without compromising quality.
Document and hand over cleanly: Deliver clear as-built documentation (network/camera setup, cabinet changes, configs, site notes) and leave the customer confident in a stable, live system.
Travel as a core part of the job: Spend most of your time on the road installing in factories across the USA (and occasionally South America / Canada), with high autonomy and a results-based, flexible schedule.
Cerrion deployments combine a server and a network of 4–80 cameras per plant, connected via Ethernet across one or multiple switches. Optional modules include connectivity devices (SIM router / Starlink), loudspeakers, and PLC interfaces with production machines.
Installations usually involve:
Pre-planning remotely: align responsibilities, access windows, cabling routes, cabinet changes, network requirements, and timeline.
On-site execution: integrate the server into customer IT infra, run & terminate Ethernet cabling, mount and align cameras, connect PLCs where needed, validate streams and system readiness.
Documentation + acceptance: deliver final as-built docs and get customer sign-off. System is switched on only after a complete successful install.
Factories vary widely in comfort, access, and complexity; you’ll need to improvise practical solutions on site when reality differs from plan.
Must-have
Licensed electrician with the certifications required to work independently in energized industrial environments in the USA.
Field installation experience in industrial settings (automation, electrical field service, machine vision/CCTV, IIoT, robotics, or similar).
Strong industrial networking fundamentals: hands-on experience with Ethernet, PoE camera networks, switches, bandwidth constraints, and troubleshooting in production environments.
Practical installation mastery: confident running cable, working in cabinets, mounting hardware, reading electrical diagrams, and delivering high-quality installs under tight windows.
Fluent English, spoken and written.
High willingness to travel extensively; the role is mostly on the road, with flexible hours oriented around installation delivery.
Ownership mindset: able to run deployments end-to-end with minimal supervision, coordinate cross-functionally, and drive acceptance outcomes.
Nice-to-have
Experience commissioning IP camera / CCTV systems (especially Axis Communications).
Exposure to PLC environments or machine-interface projects.
Comfort managing third-party contractors on site.
Performance Expectations / KPIs
On-time installs against agreed customer schedules.
Fast time-to-go-live and short deployment cycles.
High first-pass quality, minimizing post-go-live quality/performance issues.
Clear, complete documentation for every site.
See the world’s best factories up close: travel to manufacturing sites of globally known household brands and learn how real production runs.
Deploy cutting-edge AI in the real world: hands-on work with advanced computer-vision systems and GPU edge deployments—not lab demos.
High autonomy, real impact: you own deployments end-to-end and directly determine customer success.
Startup upside: competitive compensation for your home market plus early stock options in a fast-growing company scaling globally.
Employment: full-time role or contract-basis (candidate's preference); open to candidates anywhere in the USA.
Base location: remote/home-based, ideally near a major airport hub. You manage travel from home to site.
Travel: ~80% on-site / 20% off-site, with typical notice ~2 weeks when possible. Trips vary by project; occasional long-haul travel may occur.
Equipment: Cerrion provides all equipment needed. All deployment hardware is shipped directly to customer sites.
Expenses: All business travel (flights, hotels, meals, rental cars) covered; private car use reimbursed per km.
Time off: flexible working hours; performance is measured on delivery. Adequate recovery time is built in between trips.
If you’re a licensed, hands-on field engineer who wants to travel, own complex installs, and bring real AI into the factories that make the world run, while having a shot at joining a fast-growing startup on the ramp to global expansion, we’d love to meet you.
