Who are we looking for?

Axle is looking for engineering interns who will build and evolve products that will expand the possibilities of how insurance works in our every day lives. Our interns will work directly on production code as part of our product team, contributing to our core products.

What will you be doing?

  • Contribute to our LLM-based data inference and agentic workflows.
  • Build and improve our TypeScript-based microservices.
  • Work with React on the frontend, enhancing the user experience.
  • Help build and maintain integrations with complex external APIs.
  • Directly interface with customers or users to translate feedback into product direction.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and learn best practices in API design, services architecture, and data transformation.

What would set you up for success?

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong familiarity with TypeScript and React (coursework or personal projects are great).
  • Excitement about working at a startup and taking ownership of projects.
  • Some experience with APIs (building or consuming them).

What would be even better?

  • Experience working with cloud platforms (namely AWS).
  • Experience working with leading LLM models and agentic SDKs.

Why join Axle?

Build something transformative - Help build the insurance data infrastructure of the future.

  • Hands-on experience working on a product used by thousands of users every day.
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers.
  • A fast-paced, collaborative environment where you can make an impact right away.
  • Competitive internship compensation.
  • Note: While we may make exceptions, we are not at this time making offers for full-time positions at the end of the internship.

About Axle

Axle is building Plaid for Insurance - a universal API for accessing insurance data. We make it easy for companies like Hertz, Avis, and Audi to securely connect to their users' insurance data in seconds.

The multi-trillion dollar insurance industry still relies on phone calls, paper forms, and outdated systems that are slow, error-prone, and easy to fake. That's where Axle comes in. We bridge the gap between insurance and other industries through a universal API for insurance data, enabling our clients to make business decisions in seconds instead of hours while allowing consumers to unlock their most underutilized financial asset - insurance.

We are backed by leading investors including Y Combinator and Gradient Ventures (Google's AI fund) and angels from companies like Plaid and Cox Automotive.

Our team is in-person 4 days a week in our Flatiron/NoMad office in NYC.
